About

Hi, I’m Jake and I have been creating & selling my own ceramics full time since 2008.

I originally studied at Glasgow School of Art and the Royal College of Art in London, I then established a successful open pottery studio based on the Isle of Arran, west Coast of Scotland for 10 years before moving to my current base in the beautiful Artists’ town of Kirkcudbright, South West Scotland. Where you can visit my own ceramics studio & shop.

After years of developing my range of ceramics I have become more & more inspired by the playful nature of clay & the simple practice of hand modelling with only a few basic tools.

I guess that in some ways I am reverting back to that feeling of childhood creativity and using it to make small, simple pottery sculptures.

Each piece is individually sculpted using a red earthenware clay; which is then fired to 1000°C in my electric kiln. Then glaze is applied and each piece fired once again to 1120°C to complete the process.

I really hope you see the fun and enjoyment in my work and follow it’s progress as I continue to grow the collection

Thank you & enjoy!

Jake
